Job Description

Wells Fargo seeks a Lead Environmental Consultant for its Real Estate Valuation Services team, focusing on environmental risk management for commercial real estate lending in the southeastern U.S. Responsibilities include assessing project scopes, approving consultant reports, identifying environmental risks, and guiding new hires. The position is open to various locations in the Southeast and offers a work-from-home option.
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Environmental Consultant to join the Real Estate Valuation Services (REVS) Environmental group. This role supports environmental risk management for commercial real estate lending in the southeastern United States and works within a broader team that covers Wells Fargo’s domestic and international footprint.

In this role, you will:
• Determine tasks, work scope and due diligence level based on the profile of the project
• Approve third party consultant reports for adequacy and conformance to industry standards and explain complex remediation methods or concepts to ensure informed decisions are made prior to loan approvals
• Make decisions in technical data to identify potential environmental risks and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate and consult with external vendors and relationship managers to resolve issues and achieve deliverables
• Assist a team in training and guidance of new hires
• Review of environmental investigations of complex and visual properties, including Risk Class 1, 2 or 3 sites
• Determines tasks, work scope and due diligence level based on the profile of the project
• Determines and approves Phase II protocol and scope of work including soil testing, water testing ground water testing and remediation solutions
• Interprets scientific and technical information and advises lending officers regarding environmental and reputational risk impacts that may affect the quality and value of property
• Explains complex remediation methods and concepts to ensure informed decisions are made prior to loan approvals
• Identifies contingencies that must clear before loan closing or foreclosure
• Develops complex project risk profile analysis and recommends appropriate risk mitigation approaches
• Assesses reputational risk
• Reviews technical data to identify potential environmental risks and regulatory compliance, analyzes reports in light of WF's risk tolerance
• Responsible for external vendor selection based on project characteristics
• May assist in the development of policies and procedures

Work locations: Orlando, Florida; Tampa, Florida; Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia
• Open to other locations in the Southeast
