Job Description
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Environmental Education Specialist to develop and implement aquatic resource education programs across 11 counties. The role involves facilitating in-person and virtual training on fishing, boating safety, and conservation. Applicants should have strong communication skills and a passion for education. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Environmental Education Specialist you will develop coordinate and implement aquatic resource education programs across 11 counties in northeast Pennsylvania. These specialized educational programs support the agencys mission strategic plan and efforts in recruitment retention and reactivation of anglers and boaters in the Commonwealth.
You will facilitate inperson and virtual programs training and workshops focusing on fishing skills boating safety aquatic ecology conservation and instructor level training and certification courses. Audiences include formal and nonformal educators school students youth groups adult groups other agency staff and the public. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential as you will serve as the agency liaison for organizations engaged in aquatic resource conservation recreation angler education boating education travel and related tourism. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other agencies and partner organizations to build capacity for education programs and services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
• Permanent parttime employment:
• Fulltime (75 hours biweekly) for 44 weeks parttime (45 hours biweekly) for 8 weeks.
• Fulltime benefits eligible for all 52 weeks.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
• Work schedule may vary to include night and weekend shifts. Travel may be required as needed.
• Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Sweet Valley.
• NOTE Telework: The Northeast Region Office is currently under construction therefore this position will be required to temporarily telework fulltime as there is currently no office space. Once the new office opens this position will be expected to telework parttime and report to the office in Sweet Valley parttime.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
• A bachelors degree in environmental education education the natural sciences social sciences or parks and recreation;or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
• You must be willingto work weekends and evenings.
• You must be willing to wear a prescribed uniform.
Other Requirements:
• This particular position also requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania drivers license which is not under suspension.

Legal Requirements:
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
• Under the Law a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police clearance PA Child Abuse history clearance and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
